One of the reasons I hired Cameron, was because of his software engineering capabilities, coupled with his Linux knowledge and LAMP skills. My major projects as Coordinator of Virtual Services include migrating from a legacy Windows ColdFusion backend to a Linux-based PHP backend and implementing an efficient support system for our Technology and Maintenance departments, utilizing a modified installation of OSTicket tailored to our organization. In the process of migration, I've implemented many of the core features of the previous codebase, aiming to modernize and streamline our staff-side interface. * Graphical changes were limited to cross-browser support improvements, caching & compression and other pageload speed optimizations. Throughout the process, I used several technologies to ensure high stability and scalability of our web application, such as: * Fully featured & extensible CMS, Silverstripe using Linux/Apache2/MySQL/PHP (LAMP) stack as a foundation. * Using Git and Capistrano for robust and roll-back capable deployment of updates. Other successes I've produced include: * Developed Python-based backup script, daily log reporting script and general maintenance script * Developed a cross-platform web content scraping utility in C++, based on Boost libraries, to assist with the migration * Performing general Linux system administration of the dedicated web server. * Hardening the server from would-be attackers with logging, intrusion detection & prevention software Show less
