  I was one of the Founders of the University of Connecticut's Undergraduate Sociology Journal. This is the first sociological academic journal for undergraduate students on campus, accepting a wide array of submissions that make a strong commentary on social issues. As the current Editor-In-Chief, I revise and edit journal submissions in order to prepare them for publication. Additionally, I mentor authors and fellow students to reach their greatest potential.

  I am working with the UConn Department of Sociology on a Gun Buyback Evaluation Study. We have partnered with various gun safety groups around the state, attended a gun buyback event, and have compiled data. In this role I utilized the quantitative software Qualtrics, entered survey materials into Qualtrics, conducted field research, employed interview skills, and compiled field notes through observation and evaluation of buyback participants. In this lab we evaluate the intergenerational effects of childhood maltreatment on parenting, working primarily with disadvantaged mothers diagnosed with mental health disorders. I was responsible for coding hundreds of short answer responses from research participants to identify potentially traumatizing events and trauma symptoms in order to determine whether a post-traumatic stress disorder diagnosis is appropriate.
