Ordyss is a managed service provider delivering IT services and staff to a variety of clients. My primary responsibility was as sole systems administrator to the St Vincent de Paul Society, QLD while at the same time assisting with project management and smaller Ordyss clients on an ad-hoc basis. Ordyss operates system administration and support services using ITIL methodologies including change management processes and documentation standards. St Vincent de Paul QLD has a user base in excess of 1600 with over 150 shops, approximately 25 diocese offices and more than 50 hostels and refuges. Their network infrastructure is a mixture of MPLS and open internet services running a mixture of Meraki and Unifi network equipment. The server and application infrastructure is primarily hosted in Azure – some services are still hosted on-premises while I was continuing to work on transitioning them to cloud services. The on-premises environment runs in a Microsoft Hyper-V environment with Veeam as a backup solution. I started with Ordyss during a time of turmoil at St Vincent de Paul and was able to hit the ground running to help drive the environment back to a stable, reliable and closely monitored state. I implemented PRTG monitoring as soon as possible and worked for several months on a project to decommission the unmanaged, on-premises servers at the diocese offices across QLD and NT. All file services were migrated to Azure and print services moved to Printer Logic services using PrinterInstaller for deployment and configuration.

The Hevilift Group is an air charter company operating in Australia, Papua New Guinea and S.E. Asia. A major part of this role is supporting a global satellite (VSAT) and MPLS network using primarily Cisco Meraki network infrastructure. Developing and maintaining a reliable network, PC and server infrastructure in extremely remote parts of PNG has been a major challenge and a great learning experience. Understanding the unique requirements of a fly-in, fly-out culture has helped me to better provide ICT services for the company. My responsibilities included: - Monthly visits to remote sites in PNG to provide on-site, ICT services and support – usually one week a month - Supporting a global MPLS and VSAT network across, Brisbane, PNG and S.E. Asia – including direct liason with ISPs including Telstra Global - Site visits to Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia to upgrade and replace ICT infrastructure and PC equipment - Configuring, monitoring and maintaining the network infrastructure including Cisco Meraki and Riverbed Steelhead appliances - Creating and documenting an internal monitoring and reporting system using software from ZOHO such as OP Manager and ServiceDesk Plus - Managing the existing virtual environment using Hyper-V on IBM Lenovo blade chassis servers - Managing the Sophos Enterprise and end point antivirus protection - Daily monitoring of critical business services such as network and server health and uptime - Restructuring the global ICT network including an ongoing cloud migration project using Azure services - Developing a standard operating procedure and documentation process - Administration and support of the company’s Office 365 and Azure environments - ICT help desk and support – from first level through to complex troubleshooting and resolution - Monitoring and providing reports to the ICT manager on network and server performance
