Peak View Behavioral Health is a 92-bed inpatient acute care facility also providing ECT, and outpatient treatment. As floor nurse I facilitate care for a variety of patients from geriatric, adult, to adolescent populations in acute behavioral/ mental crisis. While managing care of acute crisis nurse responsibilities also include, management of complex medical illness, assessment of treatments, medications, success of therapy and discharge planning. • Developed individual nursing care plans focused on promoting Physical, psychosocial, and spiritual health. • Successfully facilitated care working with an interdisciplinary team including, medical physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, nursing staff, Mental health technicians, and assessment staff. • Strong leadership skills, management and oversight of mental health technicians as floor nurse. Quickly advanced to Go- To Nurse and filled the position of House Supervisor when needed. • Experience in review of patient medical and mental illness for admission to hospital from referring facilities. Review of blood chemistries, current medical ailments, medication reconciliation, appropriate placement, staffing requirements, and any special requirements to meet patient’s needs. • Strong assessment and communication skills utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. • Diversely trained to work with adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. • Participate in review and implementation of hospital wide protocols. Improvement to several hospital policies and procedures including infection control, fall risk prevention, and placement of emergency equipment. • Strong presentation skills leading nursing related educational groups with patients. Provide a nurse-based group every evening shift focusing on medication education and compliance, disease processes, community programs, infection control, hospital processes, and more.
