International Arbitration, Corporate and M&A International Arbitration: • Represented an oil and gas SOE in three ongoing arbitration cases (two cases are conducted under the auspices of the ICC arbitration rules and the third case is conducted under the UNCITRAL arbitration rules) involving total amounts in dispute of over US$500 million for various tax claim refunds and indemnity for suspension of petroleum operations against consortiums of independent oil contractors. • Advised a prominent Korean construction company in an ICC arbitration valued at US$1 million against the project owner of an expressway in Northern Vietnam with respect to disputes arising out of several FIDIC contracts. • Advised a Vietnamese steel manufacturing company in an ICC arbitration valued at US$ 850 000 against a metal trading company from the Philippines with respect to an agreement for the sale and purchase of prime steel billets. • Advised a Korean construction company in an ad-hoc arbitration valued at US$10 million against a Korean contractor with respect to disputes arising out of a FIDIC contract. The arbitration was governed by the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules and administered by the SIAC. • Advised a Korean investment fund in a SIAC arbitration valued at US$20 million against its shareholder. The arbitration involved an emergency interim relief proceeding against said shareholder. • Advised the Vietnamese management authority of the urban railway in Southern Vietnam with respect to a potential ICC arbitration against its contractors. The disputes arose out of a FIDIC contract. Corporate, M&A: • Advised a Korean bank in its acquisition of the retail business of an Australian and New-Zealand bank in Vietnam. • Advised on the buyout, restructuring and recapitalization of a Vietnamese pharmaceutical business. • Advised a Malaysian cooking oil company in the divestment of its equity interest in a Vietnamese joint venture company.
