I am in charge of designing courses to suit the language needs of the employees and ensuring that the material is relevant to their roles in their respective companies. In order to do my job effectively I have to immerse myself in each company, preparing the employees for meetings, conferences and presentations. I also have to maintain a dialogue with management, reporting back on the progress of their employees. Prior to the starting date of a course, I am expected to grade students accurately on their English levels, in order to place them in appropriately leveled classes. Since March 2020, I have performed a majority of my job online, working with a wide variety of video conference platforms; such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams. This major change has allowed me to adapt my style and enabled me to make the in-company training I provide, more dynamic and interactive. Online learning tools such as Miro, Classtime and Quizlet have helped to make this switch to digital training a hugely beneficial one. I have given training to large multinational companies based in Barcelona and Madrid, as well as to local government employees and start-ups. On occasion I am involved in the recruitment process. In this respect I act as a third party to companies by providing assistance to their HR department in order to determine whether the applicant has the language abilities essential for their role in the company. In short, my role simultaneously requires a high level of autonomy and accountability. I must be consistently focused and effective in my role, as several parties depend on me to perform strongly day in day out. Show less

Ever since I was a teenager I have enjoyed writing music and performing to crowds of people. I have played in bands and as a solo artist in many cities across the United Kingdom and Spain. This skill has developed my confidence massively, as well as shaping me as a person, allowing me to express myself in a creative way. My proudest experience was having the opportunity to be the support act on a UK tour in 2014. This was a surreal experience for me as I was suddenly thrown into the day to day life of an internationally renowned touring band. Playing to crowds of 600 people or more every night was exhilarating and provided me with an insight into how the music industry operates. Since moving to Barcelona, I have managed to make an extra income with my music, playing shows every week and collaborating with a wide range of musicians from all over the world. Show less
