Jan 2022 - Present
Since becoming an Expert Associate in January 2023, I have continued to provide monthly bookkeeping services for U.S. small businesses but with some of my largest client's now making almost $10 million in gross annual revenue. These new clients have significantly larger and more complex books compared to those of my original clients but this has given me an opportunity to further improve my efficiency and breadth of knowledge. During the 2021 and 2022 tax seasons, my first two tax seasons as an Expert Associate, I generated a further 80 year-end tax packages myself but also aided in the completion and generation of an unknown number of tax packages for newer Associates on my team to ensure that tax filing deadlines were met. I continue to communicate frequently with clients and CPAs, over the phone and via email, to ensure bookkeeping accuracy and completion, as well as taking escalation calls for the team when difficult conversations need to be had with clients. As part of this role, I continue to assist in the training and mentorship of new Associates after they complete their time in Bench's operational training academy to share my tenured knowledge and experiences and to give back in the same way that my mentor did before me. I have successfully mentored three Associates in a one-on-one capacity over the past year and a half but I also help generally with the mentorship of other new associates on the team to share knowledge where I can. I have continued to organize daily and weekly work and review schedules for myself and new Associates to ensure the quality and accuracy of the teams books. In addition to the core aspects of my role, I have often requested to champion the testing and rollout of new products and systems to improve the client experience and the accuracy and efficiency of our services. I am frequently involved in testing and feedback sessions which provides me with insight into the inner workings of our service and the future of my role. Show less

During my almost year and a half as an Accounting Associate, I provided monthly bookkeeping services for over 40 U.S. small businesses with approximately $50,000 - $4,000,000 in gross annual revenue and was responsible for the generation of almost 40 year-end tax packages for the 2020 fiscal year. I frequently communicated directly with both clients and CPAs, over the phone and via email, to ensure that the books were completed in a timely and accurate manner each month and that the client's taxes were filed before their deadline. As part of this role, I also assist in the training and mentorship of new Accounting Associates after they completed their time in Bench's operational training academy. I helped organize daily and weekly working and review schedules for both myself and new Associates to ensure that they could grow into their role and discover their potential. Show less

My responsibilities included providing customers information on the available range of lagers, ales and spirits, changing and rotating barrels and kegs, assisting in stock take, delegating responsibilities, the training of new staff on bar operations and barista techniques. This opportunity allowed me to have a greater contribution to the workplace and an increased level of responsibility reinforced skills I had developed through my time as a venue assistant. My university placement year was spent with the United States National Park Service at the Sonoran Desert Network (SODN) in Southern Arizona. As a member of a field crew, I worked as a biological technician for the Uplands, Vegetation Mapping and Wildlife Camera Protocols collecting field data and assisting in environmental surveys.
