Checkout Team Leader
-
Apr 2020 - Feb 2022
In this role, I have worked my way from Customer Assistant to Team Leader, both roles have been based on the checkout department. As Team Leader, I was responsible for the running of the checkout department during my shifts, as well as the satisfaction of customers and the welfare of customer assistants on checkouts during my shift. The former is often relating to dispute or misunderstandings regarding offers or discounts on items, or replacing faulty items the customer may have accidentally picked up. The latter is primarily balancing the length of queues with the requirement of staff to take breaks on shift, requiring great time management. The role of Team Leader also comes with the need to take several legal and financial checks which have to be signed off with some being as often as every 30 minutes whilst on shift Show less

Track, Trace and Isolate Assistant
-
Jun 2021 - Sep 2021
Track, Trace, and Isolate was a unique and rewarding job, putting me out into the community, to support and advise the people of North East Lincolnshire about COVID-19. The Job was split into 3 sections, Wellbeing Visits, Community Outreach and Supporting Businesses. Wellbeing visits consisted of visiting those who had tested positive and were currently isolating, we were to act as a support network, offering those in need a hand if they required. Many of those isolating had no personal support bubble, and without our service may not have eaten properly as they couldn’t shop or didn’t have access to online shopping. This part of the job was the most difficult, as it required great empathy and understanding. When in more deprived areas many were resistant to isolating as they couldn’t afford to being off work as the gap between wages and SSP was too great. Here I had to balance being empathetic but also reinforce the government guides, to great a balance of understanding but also being affirmative in the message being delivered. Community Outreach and Supporting Businesses was more delivering test kits to the public. As a team we would target areas with greater cases per population, going door to door offering lateral flow test kits, in the effort to follow the spread and stop it in its tracks. Show less
