I have worked at Lion Quays for around 3 years now, and still try to do as many shifts as possible when I am home from University. I am often front of house as guests arrive and enjoy this aspect immensely. To assist with wedding preparations and within a team serve the guests and ensure their experience of the hotel is enjoyable and trouble free. If there are no events scheduled I transfer over to the Waterside restaurant and carry out general duties as assigned. However I now tend to spend more time on the bars. As well as working at the Lion Quays I have on several occasions worked in both Wales and Scotland at two of our Sister Hotels. Both of these were Fine Dining and after every trip I came back with more knowledge and as a better member of staff than I left.

During my half term from Sixth Form I was fortunate enough to have been granted the opportunity to go to Lincoln for the week and work with various teams inside Siemens Turbomachinery departments in the Joseph Ruston Building. I treated the placement as a project, planned the trains and arrange 5 night accommodation at Lincoln in preparation for my week away. The week gave me the insight into the culture and ethos of the company along with the understanding of the Sales, Finance and commercial project side of the business. My favourite part of the week was spending two days with the Project Management team, looking over how they run the projects and how it all works. This was a fantastic opportunity and after completing my week here I was left without any doubt that studying Business Management at University was the correct path for me to go down.

After leaving school and prior to starting sixth form I obtained a seven week full time post with Jones Brothers Ltd a long established local building company. Working with many different tradesman on various sites and projects. I was responsible for making my way to whichever site I was assigned to and follow instructions throughout the working day. I was often left on site to carry out tasks while other employees went for supplies. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and learnt many life skills and especially enjoyed the social aspects of working with different skill sets and team members.
