Jun 2015 - Present
With over 7 years’ service within the Scottish Prison Service, I have performed numerous roles both within the operations group and prisoner management. Whilst in operations I progressively developed my understanding of the key values of the SPS.As part of my development, I specialised as a reception officer – enhancing my inter personal skills, with the role being perhaps the most varied in terms of engaging with different categories of individuals and understanding their complex needs. As I aim to continually develop within my role, I took the next step in my career to prisoner management in a residential area, this was a natural progression for me after 24 months acting up. Since identifying the route I would like my career to follow, I expressed an interest with in the Physical Education department, and In October 2020 I was successful in application for a development opportunity in the gymnasium where I successfully completed Gym instructor level 2 award, before moving on to complete level 3 in personal training. Plasterer
-
Aug 2010 - Aug 2014
During my time with City Crafts Ltd I completed a four year apprenticeship which recognizes me as a tradesman in solid plastering. City Crafts are primarily a fibrous plastering company meaning I have worked in both aspects of the plastering trade. I worked in both domestic households and commercial sites meaning I have experience dealing with household customers as well as on-site experience working under engineers and managers instruction. To work on site I had to obtain my CSCS card which shows I have the knowledge of health and safety to work on site. The apprenticeship involved two years of block release at college where I gained an SVQ Level 3 in solid plastering. At the end of the four years I had to sit a City & Guilds practical assessment to show I could work independently as a plasterer. This involved boarding ceilings, beadwork, straightening with undercoat, finish coats, cement render and a small amount of dry-dash cement work,. I managed to pass this with full marks. Show less
