      In this role I organise, coordinate and manage the use of the department’s five laboratories for all the academic staff, external associates, and student practical sessions and projects. Specific job responsibilities include:• Sole responsibility, management and usage of the universities Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) spectrometer.• Conducting the sample processing, analysis and data report generation for other research within my expertise: Acids Processing, X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IRMS), Elemental Analyser (EA), Liquid Chromatography (LC), Total Organic/Inorganic Carbon (TOC/TIC) via Loss On Ignition (LOI), Particle Size Analysis, Titration, Flame Photometry.• Ensuring the laboratories and lab users all meet and abide by the faculties, universities, and UK governments health and safety requirements.• Performing routine maintenance, stock, and calibration checks on machinery, equipment and resources so all necessary equipment and consumables are present and functioning when needed.• Training staff and students in lab techniques and specialist equipment usage were necessary.• Developing methodologies and evaluating new lab equipment capabilities.• Tracking lab usage and ensuring all day to day requirements are met for scheduled activities.• Distributing processing jobs amongst the technician team according to expertise and guaranteeing projects are completed to schedule.• Discuss quality and requirement levels of various lab aspects with the academic users and upper management supervisors to ensure all needs are met in a practical and efficient manner.
