Management Intern
-
May 2013 - Oct 2013
I was awarded the Marvin A. Andrews Scholarship/Internship in 2013 and had the opportunity to choose a municipality that I would like to intern with. I chose the Town of Marana because it was known for being innovative and fiscally conservative; two things that I believed all local government entities should emulate. While with the Town of Marana, I performed and participated in a variety of tasks. • Downtown Road Realignment: Assisted in the design of the downtown area, and notified business owners of the Town’s wish to realign the downtown road network through door-to-door outreach activities and public forums. • Airport Improvements: Prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) for consultant services to update the Airport Strategic Plan and subsequently conducted interviews of qualified consultants; updated the airport’s marketing materials and began revising the Airport Emergency Plan. • Legislative Affairs: Participated in the Manifesto Project, which was a statewide event to solicit information for state policymakers on workforce priorities; duties included soliciting resident feedback through various online platforms and public forms. •Water Resources Policies: Updated the Town’s water policy to be compliant with current laws and best practices. • Sponsorships: Acquired sponsors to fund and participate in the Town’s booth at a statewide conference.
