As a Litigation Extern, I supported the Affirmative Litigation team in the following ways:•Assisted staff attorneys litigating unlawful detainer cases, preparing trial documents and assisting with clerical tasks.•Prepared drafts of legal motions and declaration forms, conducting research and working with paralegal staff.•Attended team meetings with pro bono counsel from various assisting firms throughout Los Angeles. •Worked individual projects for staff attorneys, including gathering data on Fair Housing Act litigation/complaints.•Conducted research for supervisors gathering data on judicial action surrounding the Orange County homeless crisis.As a Community Engagement Intern, I supported the Homeful.la team in the following ways:• Organized two major donation drives; the annual Hygiene Kit Drive and Back to School Drive, developing a marketing campaign, leading community outreach, managing logistics, and serving as the main liaison between partners and the Inner City Law Center. • Wrote multiple articles for the Homeful.la newsletter, some of which included organizing on-site interviews• Produced social media content, including designing visual graphics and editing video projects.

Served as site-leader for various community service projects throughout the Los Angeles region, including LA Works Day and the MLK Day of Service. I additionally served as a student advisor for on-campus student directors of community tutoring programs, such as the School on Wheels and Lincoln Heights Tutorial programs. Directed various OxyConnects programs, a school initative to connect on-campus Occidental students with off-campus service opportunities and various communities in the greater Los Angeles Area. Served as an organizer for the Incarceration Awareness Series, a weeklong series of programming sponsored by the Office for Community Engagement that served to raise awareness for issues of incarceration both regionally and nationally.

Support Assistant Attorneys General in the Family Services Division, Child Protection Section of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) for the District of Columbia in the following capacities:•Draft legal motions including Motions to Waive Confidentiality,Amend Petition, and Substitute Service.•Draft proposed court orders for Permanency, Initial and Disposition Hearing Orders for Magistrate Judges.•Draft and submit subpoenas and service packets for numerous trials in D.C. Superior Court on the topic of child neglect.•Assist Attorneys in courtroom during trials, recording transcripts, managing evidence exhibits and directing testifying witnesses.•Communicate on behalf of Assistant Attorneys General via email and phone to various legal counsel, government offices, subpoenaed individuals and OAG investigators. •Represent Assistant Attorneys General in Family Team Meetings, Mediation sessions and other legal proceedings. •Conduct research in preparation of government’s argument pertaining to child neglect cases.
