As the Assistant Registrar, I was responsible for all aspects of hard-copy and digital record-keeping for the Collections Division, including maintenance of accession files, drafting deeds of gift and transfer memoranda, the completion of paperwork for incoming and outgoing loans, and preparation of forms and databases to document object data. I was charged with ensuring the museum's compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). As part of a small team, I conducted research on objects and human remains in the collections to determine provenance and eligibility under NAGPRA, ensured the accuracy of accession and catalog information, and prepared to take further steps in the NAGPRA process. I regularly conducted condition examinations on accessioned and loaned materials, including, anatomical specimens, artwork, archival material, and mixed media artifacts. I also led a team that monitored the conservation needs and issues of objects on exhibit, and I collected data on environmental conditions in galleries and storage areas to inform preservation decisions. Additionally, I assisted the Exhibits Division with exhibition research, writing, design, fabrication, and installation. Show less
