I worked alongside Chrissy at CSUCI's Career Center. I was immediately impressed by her strong work ethic and ability to adapt. In addition to being a diligent worker, who consistently demonstrates great attention to detail at all times, Chrissy also managed to be supportive of everyone on our team. We worked on many projects together throughout the academic year and she always went out of her way to help make it great. Chrissy would be an asset to any company.

I’ve had the pleasure to work with Christabelle for the past 5 months as a fellow Career Peer Mentor. She takes great pride in her work whether it is doing student outreach or student counseling. She is a quick learner and her attention to detail paired with her emotional intelligence is a great quality to have. I’m confident her skills will take her far in her career, as she’s always willing to go the extra mile.

    • Instructional Student Assistant and Peer Consultant
      • Jan 2018 - Dec 2018

Academically assisting students with their writing, presentation, and communication skills, and watching them prosper and grow confident in their skills motivates me to become a better peer consultant. At the Writing & Multiliteracy Center (WMC), not only did I individually assist students with their writing assignments, but I also collaborated and communicated with professional and educational faculty and staff, including the WMC directors and professors. I also collaborated with my other peer consultants through professional development projects to help the WMC thrive and find ways to better serve and welcome our students. Through weekly seminars, I acted as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for professors by being the students' in-class and embedded multiliteracy tutor (EMT) by tailoring my tutoring services to their assignments and facilitating student academic discussions. I performed a multitude of tasks as a peer consultant. They also include:• Facilitating academic conversations with students on essay and literary topics in the classroom • Collaborating with other peer consultants on development projects to promote and improve our services to students, staff, and faculty• Developing writing, presentation, and visual design skills with training in the classroom and weekly seminars• Instructing students on essay criteria, content, grammar, and oral presentations Show less

    • Peer Mentor
      • Jun 2018 - Jul 2018

By serving as a positive influence and seeing your students grow and reach their full potential is the most rewarding experience to have as a Peer Mentor. Working as a Peer Mentor for migrant high school students for 2 years (Summer 2018 and 2019) allowed me to learn new skills and experiences from my students, colleagues, and superiors. As a Peer Mentor, I was exposed to the bicultural and bilingual backgrounds of my students, provided academic support and tutoring for their STEM activities and assignments, and facilitated student conversations regarding their experience as students from various low-income, bicultural, first-generation backgrounds. I worked closely and individually with these students, as well as with my fellow Peer Mentors and superiors that allowed us to foster and promote healthy, mentoring relationships between students, Peer Mentors, staff, and faculty. Aside from mentoring, I fulfilled other tasks and duties. These include, but are not limited to:• Supporting educational faculty and staff by assisting with activities, organizing and distributing educational files, schedules, and itineraries, as well as other administrative duties• Collaborating with other peer mentors to improve and facilitate student activities and projects to welcome, motivate, and inspire students by exposing them to the STEM fields• Facilitating group educational and support activities with high school students to foster healthy relationships between students, mentors, and educational staff, faculty, and counselors Show less

    • Teaching Assistant
      • Jan 2018 - May 2018

Supporting psychology faculty as a Teaching Assistant (TA) opened my eyes to the dedication and passion professors and faculty have for encouraging their students. As a TA, I worked closely with my former developmental psychology professor and assisted her by creating and editing her lecture slideshow presentations, grading tests and assignments, and collaborating with her to create a weekly agenda. Other responsibilities included:• Corresponding with the instructor regarding the weekly agenda, presentations, and activities for each lecture to increase student engagement and hands-on learning in the classroom• Assembling and updating slideshow presentations for each weekly lecture to present relevant course information through visual and statistical content• Assisting the instructor with the organization of students in-class assignments Show less
