I worked with Joseph Burger for 3 years and was able to work on many projects with him, my favorite one being to build IDE refactoring tools such as renaming variables and find references/definitions for Airscript. Joseph is a talented engineer and an awesome teammate. He is passionate about solving difficult engineering problems and loves to find out how things work under the hood. It’s always fun to work with Burger because his passion is contagious and he brings the best out of his teammates.

When I interviewed at Airkit, I told everyone my goal was to be a full stack software engineer. During my first year, I continuously tackled projects that spanned web server development, database creation, developing new features for our in-house scripting language and runtime, as well as implementing the front end. During my second year at Airkit, I primarily worked on back end APIs and orchestrating communications across multiple services and databases to deliver features. I like to imagine a lot of my work like an ice berg... The user sees a button or small piece of GUI (the tip of the ice berg), and when they interact with it, three or four different servers might activate code I wrote, all to deliver the feature in an organized and maintainable manner that fits into our service ecosystem. I eventually had a hand in so many codebases that I started onboarding people on our "services" backend team, even though I initially did more user-facing work. This lead to me becoming quite knowledgeable and capable across a wide variety of features, codebases and languages. Show less
