Alongside writing, performing and recording music in my band/duo Lyre, I have created and now maintain all social media platforms and our website. Through this, I've gained a lot of insight into website creation, SEO, social media marketing and much more. Before Covid-19 hit, I was also networking, applying to festivals and booking gigs. As Senior Welfare Leader (SWL), I was given the responsibility of safeguarding children who have travelled from abroad to learn English at our University of Bath centre. I worked alongside Welfare Leaders and Activity Leaders, directed by a small management team, ensuring a smooth running of the language school. Alongside various admin roles such as rooming allocations and risk assessments, I would help Activity Leaders and Teachers locate any absent children, work meal duties and aid activity sessions if needed. At night, we would also patrol the campus accommodation, making sure the children were in bed. In addition, I would often lead excursions to locations such as London, Stonehenge, Windsor and Bristol with large groups of children. Show less

      • Jun 2016 - Jul 2016

I volunteered for 4 days a week for a month at Malpas Alport Primary School, whereby I would assist the teachers in Class One by helping children complete exercises, tidying classrooms and doing various other errands. I was able to apply my knowledge of language acquisition from my studies to understand the stage at which a child was in their comprehension, reading and writing skills and this aided my ability to be able to help them with their tasks. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience as it was rewarding in both the skills I gained and in knowing I had helped some children to understand concepts they struggled with. Show less

    • English Language Tutor
      • Sep 2014 - Aug 2015

I spent roughly a year tutoring a 9 year-old boy English Language. I would teach a 45 minute lesson at least once a week. During these lessons, I would help the child to complete one page from a grammar book, and one comprehension exercise alongside other word-related games, which helped to keep him keen and interested. This improved my communication skills as I learnt to adapt the lesson plan depending on the child's mood and attention span which would be different each lesson. I was also able to help him move to the top English set in his year over this time period. Show less
