Working primarily in freshwater monitoring where I process macroinvertebrate samples. I’m also involved in collecting field samples, data entry and analysis, and report writing. During spring/summer months I also undertake braided river bird monitoring in Southland.

My role focuses on providing our first-year students with the opportunities to have a well rounded experience at the University of Otago. Through providing a community orientated programme, I lead and organise the events calendar for Hayward College which gives students the chance to be involved in social, sporting, volunteering and cultural activities. In addition to events, I am part of the pastoral care team and provide academic advice to students. I have a passion for sustainability and have recently been on a short-term secondment to the Sustainability Office to support the Green Impact Awards Programme. I have learnt a lot about sustainability and am looking forward to using these skills within the Campus and Collegiate Life Division. Show less

Carrying out freshwater biodiversity assessment on the largest Queen Elizabeth II National Trust land protection area in New Zealand called the Mahu Whenua (healing the land) covenants including: accessing very remote areas on foot with a small team, collecting macroinvertebrate stream samples, processing the samples in the laboratory and participating in the development of findings. This work was part of a broader project monitoring health and land changes in Mahu Whenua, which comprises a series of retired high-country stations between Wanaka and Arrowtown. Show less
