  We offer a school performance called “Vazzy in New-France/ Vazzy en Nouvelle-France”, to BC schools in collaboration with Artstarts in Schools. ( www.artstarts.com ) About the show: A lively and interactive presentation of traditional French-Canadian songs and music accompanied by historical and cultural anecdotes depicting life during the early days of Canada. The musical voyage starts in France, crossing the Atlantic Ocean to the New World where we meet the First Nations People. The songs describe some of the trades and occupations of the men, women and children of New France. The audience participates in singing, spoon playing, dancing, acting/mime and various French language interactions. During the performance the musicians introduce ten musical instruments played at the time. The artists are bilingual; the narration during the shows can be in French and/or English language. We also offer various 50 minutes workshops with groups of 30 students: Podorhythmy (Foot percussion) and spoon playing (Grade 5-12 ) Traditional Dance from French-Canada (Grade 5-12) Traditional, rounds, dances and rhymes from French-Canada (K-5) Traditional French-Canadian songs (Grade 5-12) Show less
