I teach Math II, Physics, Statistics, and have taught Coding in my position as teacher at Nashville School of the Arts. I enjoy physics for the hands-on and exploratory nature of the science. We get to talk about a variety of topics within physics and I try to apply them to the arts as much as possible. I apply kinematics to dance and theater. I apply electromagnetic waves to music and visual arts using light and sound. I enjoy Statistics in being able to apply it to current events. There have been great opportunities in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 to study COVID, the Presidential Election, LGBTQ rights and movement along with gender equality in salary and the workplace. We do surveys to generate our own data, and use searches on the internet targeting government, and educational sites to find published data to learn data analysis and statistics.Coding class is a class that I created and is unique to Metro Nashville Public Schools. We focus on producing. We start with basic HTML and CSS design. We then move on to the internet of things using a Raspberry Pi. After that we would create an app, either for Android or iOS. Lastly we would put it all together in a virtual Startup of their choice and design.Math II is the class that is the tested subject. This is an integrated approach where we blend Geometry with Algebra I and Algebra II. My main job is to teach the standards set out by the state of Tennessee and prepare my students to take an End of Course test.

    • Consulting Teacher
      • Sep 2012 - Mar 2022

As a Consulting Teacher, I analyze the school data and create strategies to increase test scores. I work with both academic and arts teachers in creating ways to integrate the arts and academics in the classroom. I also created and implemented a three-day workshop introducing the Common Core Mathematics Standards and how we will implement them in Nashville to the Math I teachers in the entire district. I have recently trained 90 teachers and administrators on the Tennessee Revised Mathematics Standards. Lastly, I run Professional Learning Communities for NSA every other week. The programs vary from using data to analyze student performance, learning strategies, and even teacher appreciation programs to improve morale. Every year NSA increased achievement in all areas of the ACT test and we have increased student participation and added Advanced Placement classes and tests. This position expired due to restructuring of the Consulting/Coach position and the grant that funded it expired.

I have successfully completed 4 years of Football Officiating. I have worked the positions of Field Judge, Side Judge, and Back Judge. I have also worked the Referee position during spring games. It is my responsibility to provide a scouting report of both teams. My report must be submitted by Wednesday prior to our Saturday game. During the game my duties include managing the game clock, being an expert in all clock related rules, managing the sideline, along with general officiating duties during the regular game play. Post-game it is my responsibility to provide explanations on all fouls that I have called as well as assisting in reporting and recording all fouls that the rest of the crew has called. I also review the game film within 36 hours and submit a self critique of all plays to our crew leader. We also get feedback from our Conference Supervisor and review the game film at least one more time during the week before preparing for the next game.

      • May 2010 - Nov 2010

I successfully implemented a social media marketing campaign for The Learning Dock’s Teach Me Bass Guitar program (http://www.teachmebassguitar.com) using Facebook, Youtube, Google, Twitter, Stumbleupon, Digg, Reddit, and more. I also participated and moderated the Thunder Row forums (http://www.thunderrow.com), their bass player companion site, driving conversation and increasing traffic while also preventing spammers. I also advised them on how to publish articles outside the site such as Ezine Articles, Buzzle, Article City, and more, how to blog using rich keywords. I also participated in other bloggers sites, and music sites around the internet, relating to but not competing with The Learning Dock. At the end of my contract I was used more and more as an advisor roll implementing a Google Adwords Campaign, monetizing the site through Google Adsense, helping create a newsletter for affiliate marketers, implementing Google Analytics for site traffic analysis, cross linking, and SEO.

    • Business Development Manager
      • Jun 2009 - Dec 2009

While Business Development Manager I was in charge of bringing in new clients. I did this through various ways of social networking both online and offline. I created a Facebook page, wrote blog articles, posted customer feedback, attended business networking events, and was involved in Business Networks International, the Rotary club, Doral Business Council, and several Chambers of Commerce. I brought in three full paying clients, and booked several workshops. This was more than any of the other ActionCOACH Business Coaches in the area (total of 5), and created over $30,000 in residual income for the company quarterly.

    • English Teacher
      • Jul 2008 - Feb 2009

I taught English to non-speaking Taiwanese students that were 5 and 6 years old. I was responsible for my students all day long. Every day included reading, writing, and speaking English only; aerobics every morning, and music and movement time. Weekly we also did mathematics twice, computer time once, and physical education once, and “park time” where we brought students to the park across the street from the school. The school taught using the Multiple Intelligence Theory of Howard Gardner.
