I worked at Nuffield Medical @Pacific Plaza to start-up the project of Pre-Departure Travel Swab. I began working as an admin staff and had to register patients whom are intending to travel and require the necessary pre-departure travel for their country of travel. I was eventually trained to be an in-charge (IC) of the project where I was tasked with managing the appointments and managing the admin staff. Having the role of an IC also required me to be familiar with the protocols and technique for swabbing patients as well as I was required to stand in as swabbed as and when its needed. This experience has allowed me to further strengthen my customer service skill as I needed to build rapport with customers and my management skills to work in a team. Responsibilities: 1. Ability to work in a fast paced environment 2. Knowledge in the use of the Patient Risk Profile Portal (PRPP) 3. Familiarity in the various protocols and requirements required for entry to different countries. 4. Knowledge of swab technique and standard operating procedure (SOP) 5. It was a practicum that occured when I was in Year 2 and it was a 5 weeks program (200 hours). I was allocated to a class of Kindergarten 1 children. Responsibilities: 1. Assist the host teacher with daily routines (E.g. Meal-time, outdoor-time, nap-time) 2. Assist host teacher with the lesson activities 3. Ensure the safety and well-being of the children in class 4. Assist host teacher with the preparation of lesson materials/resources 5. Assist host teacher with the documentation of a child’s progress during lesson (E.g. Photo-taking and video taking) 6. Conducted 3 lessons of different learning areas (Early Numeracy, Language and Literacy and Motor Skills Development) with 8 children from the class Key Takeaways: It was a new experience for me as I was tasked with bigger responsibilities during this practicum. Being placed in the preschool for a month provided me insight as to how working in a preschool as an educator is like. I also had to apply knowledge taught to me on campus in the centre such as classroom management , lesson-planning using NEL framework, ITeach Principles and Principles in Early Childhood. Show less

It was my first practicum that was carried out when I was in Year 1 where we were required to go to the centre for a full week. I was allocated to a class of Nursery 1 students. Responsibilities: 1. Ensure the safety and well-being of the children in class Key Takeaways: It was my first time being in a preschool as a practicum student and it was initially daunting but through the guidance of my host teacher, I was able to develop my confidence in dealing with children. I was able to work on my communication and interpersonal skills with the children and teachers. It gave me a general feel of the flow of a daily routine would be like and how to go about managing the class. Show less
