As a Writing Tutor at the University College, Julia N. Visor Academic Center, I worked with many diverse students ranging from undergraduates to PhD. candidates. I also have had experience working with domestic and international students with varying English proficiency. I worked extensively with students to help them express their ideas clearly and effectively. Tutees and I worked on essays, theses, scholarship applications, lesson plans, and doctoral dissertations. For this position, I also had to familiarize myself with various citation manuals and stylebooks such as: American Psychological Association (APA), Modern Language Association (MLA), Associated Press (AP), and Chicago.

Supplemental Instructional Leader

As a Supplemental Instructional Leader at the University College, Julia N. Visor Academic Center, I worked with one section of Dimensions of Numerical Reasoning (MAT 130). My responsibilities included attending every lecture and planning outside sessions for supplemental instruction. I would plan 90 minute sessions twice a week where students actively learned and practiced the math concepts learned in lecture. For this position, I was required to have two professor write letters of recommendation and to demonstrate mastery in the course content.
