Pre-construction Estimator
-
Mar 2020 - Mar 2021
Preconstruction Estimator for union construction contractor primarily bidding earthwork and utilities for infrastructure improvements. Some challenging highlights have been bidding on both waste and potable water treatment plants, ash pond closures, and utility relocates for the I-69/I-465 Interchange Southwest Interceptor project. In bidding these jobs, I work closely with sub-contractor estimators to secure pricing for aspects of the project that Wilhelm does not self-preform. I also coordinate with local union halls for labor in localities that Wilhelm does not currently have a presence. After inspecting the plans and site we communicate with the customer to offer any value engineering opportunities that may be available to save on time and resources, and improve our chances of winning on bid day.

Project Manager / Estimator
-
May 2018 - Mar 2020
Construction Project Manager / Estimator for construction contractor managing and bidding earthwork and utilities for commercial/infrastructure and residential sites. I have bid residential projects as large as $4.1 million and commercial/infrastructure as large as $5.2 million. I take the estimate from the bid invitation all the way to submitting a proposal to the customer. Once the contract is won, project management progresses from pre cons with local government, applying for the necessary permits, scheduling coordination between our crews and the customer, securing material delivery dates with suppliers, monthly project billing, change orders, and general job oversight. Project Management continues until site completion. I am also responsible for tracking Work In Progress of current jobs, evaluating which bid invitations to bid, forecasting jobs and crew schedules, and pricing materials and equipment for the company and crews.

Estimator
-
Jun 2015 - Jan 2018
Construction Estimator for construction contractor bidding earthwork and utilities for commercial and residential sites. Along with using construction plans for takeoffs, I utilize Agtek Earthwork 4D and HCSS HeavyBid software to estimate the costs of earthwork projects, and installation of water, storm, and sanitary systems for contract bids. If the earthwork of a site does not balance, we will reengineer the design to offer an alternative to balance the site. Once contracts have been awarded, I assist the Project Manager in ensuring that all necessary materials are ordered and delivered to the site on time, with change orders being approved by the site developer to deal with any unforeseen changes. Project management continues until site completion.

Outside Plant Engineer
-
Jan 2011 - Nov 2013
Outside Plant Engineer designing telephone plant design for AT&T. Working in the field, I designed both fiber and copper cable installation and damage/repair jobs, including fiber to the customer and fiber to cell towers. I designed aerial pole line construction plant on existing and new pole lines. Also, I designed plant in the buried and underground environments. I researched easements and right of ways to correctly deign cable placements. I am also experienced in creating traffic control plans, and permits. For customer installations, I made site visits with local customer contacts to insure the proper infrastructure was in place prior to installation. I worked closely with the AT&T GEO managers to insure that all designed jobs met their satisfaction by completion date. I endeavored to insure that all designs conformed to both AT&T’s safety practices, and the National Electric Safety Code. Designs were drafted using Microstation V8i CAD.
