  Serves as a technical expert for Department of Defense networks in the state of Vermont. Configure firewalls to allow only authorized traffic into and out of the VTARNG network. Maintain and document firewall rule sets. Monitor Firewall logs and report anomalies to the Network Engineer. Configuration of switches to include VLANs, SSH, IOS upgrades, 802.1x, and routing if required. Configuration of Routers to include IP Addressing, Routing Protocols, ACLs, IOS upgrades, and DMVPN. Backup and restore switch and router configurations manually and/or through Prime and Document all network systems and maintain documentation. Propose and price new network devices. Upgrade existing network devices, monitor for "End of Life", and ensure timely life cycle replacement. Install and maintain network management server systems for network monitoring through SNMP, NetFlow and Solarwinds. Monitor all network devices for utilization and performance using SNMP, NetFlow and Prime data. Perform network system maintenance and network troubleshooting. Research, test, pilot, and implement new network solutions as directed by the management. Work with National Guard Bureau Network Operations and WAN providers to maintain WAN connectivity.

  Managed the telecommunications switch that provides voice network capabilities to the Vermont National Guard. Administers the switch operating systems to include routing tables, trunks and groups. Administers call restrictions and classes of service. Performs software upgrades and troubleshoots problems with the operating system and hardware. Use appropriate software or diagnostic equipment to resolve problems with the telecommunication system. Monitors, maintains and recommends optimum switched systems configuration. Administers and programs Voice Messaging System, messaging broadcasting, automated attendants, and integrated voice to desk top, load capacity and voice mail configurations.
