The city encompasses 20 square miles with a live-in population of over 30,000 and a daytime population that can easily exceed 100,000. Attractions include Kings Island Amusement Park, Great Wolf Lodge indoor waterpark, and an annual ATP/WTA tennis tournament. The City of Mason Fire Department consists of 42 full-time firefighter/paramedics, one fire inspector, seven lieutenants, four deputy chiefs, and a fire chief. We operate two stations. Deputy Fire Chief

Jun 2014 - Mar 2018
From June 2014 to January 2018, I was assigned as the Unit 3 shift commander/battalion supervisor where I was responsible for day-to-day operations during a 24-hour shift staffed by 12-14 firefighter/paramedics.My administrative assignments included oversight and planning for fire, rescue, and drivers training as well as the management of fire and rescue operations. In addition, I managed the department response run cards. I have coordinated and conducted multiple assessment centers for the positions of Deputy Chief, Lieutenant, and officer in charge positions, internally and externally. Deputy Fire Chiefs are classified as assistant department heads who play in integral role in items such as policy making and budgeting for the department and assist in administering a $7.9 million budget. Deputy Chiefs are also assigned various projects that require cooperation throughout all levels of city government. As part of these responsibilities I have planned the emergency management component for several large special events and I have served on the city negotiating team in successfully negotiating the fire department CBA.From December 2017-March 2018, I served as the Acting Fire Chief.
