I deliver first year accredited college courses to incarcerated men in order to build their lives and build bridges to the community for further development and success when they are released. Since March of 2020 when COVID restriction were implemented we started working on other ways to deliver this program through video and correspondence. Before COVID I was going into one prison and now with a team we are producing video lesson with instructional correspondence that will soon be delivered to five prisons with one prison out of the province.

    • Inner City Addiction and Recovery Coach (Connecting Streams)
      • Sep 2018 - Present

I started volunteering with this organization the fall of 2016. Now, I am part of a team that connects the larger religious community with society’s most vulnerable to form a mutually beneficial relationship and to build a healthy community connection between the two groups. This is done through training and by the formation of a team based model to reach out to people by providing community programs that emphasises the love that God has for us through Jesus. My particular role is to the in the inner city residents, those struggling with addictions and those entering back into society after spending time in prison. Since my teams have been allowed back in after COVID restrictions have been lifted we have increased our base of volunteers in the inner city with more venues.

    • Child and Youth Care Counsellor
      • Sep 2018 - Present

Applying Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and CARE with groups of youth within a residential communal setting of a ranch outside of the city. This is done in an effort to build pro-social skills into boys that have previously faced crisis and need to be built back up with the effort to enter back into a family or community setting successfully. Oakhill provides a variety of programs to work with the cultural/religious backgrounds of the youth living there. I oversee the chapel program in order to facilitate a youth’s connection to their religious/spiritual heritage.

I joined the RESO program chaplain in training with the goal to become a regular military chaplain. I enjoyed the training and experience, but it turned out that my military experience was going to only be part of my development towards serving the vulnerable of society.

    • Signals Reserve NCM
      • Feb 2011 - Dec 2014

Signals is related to communications. We are the first in and the last out in a crisis. Without the ability to communicate, whether by radios, computers or satellites, your effectiveness in solving the crisis reduces dramatically. If you can’t communicate with the others involved, you can’t do the job.

    • Correctional Officer/ Parole Officer
      • Feb 2005 - Jun 2016

The goal of the organization was to ensure public safety while providing safe and secure control of those incarcerated. I started as a correctional officer I, which is mainly security related. After a couple of years I became a pathways correctional officer II, which led me into doing casework. Later I was able to take parole officer training and act as a pathways parole officer which involved integrating indigenous culture into the offender's correctional program. Also, the goal of a parole officer was not only to do analysis, but was to ensure offenders were on the right track and following their correctional plan in an effort to facilitate them into being law abiding citizens. I was trained to deliver correctional programs related to addictions, but never had the opportunity to deliver the program.
