  I am the senior science teacher at Forest Lake High School. I currently teach General Biology, Advanced Placement Biology, Comparative Anatomy, Environmental Science, and Field/Forensic Biology. In addition I am a site facilitator for our instructional coaching / Q-Comp (Quality Compensation) program. This leadership position requires that I develop and lead professional development programs for the high school staff, and work with the school teaching staff to meet their Q-comp requisites.   When I'm not in the classroom teaching biology, I'm in the field studying nature, making images, and writing about my experiences and findings in the field. This work has been featured online and in print. In addition, I lead local photographic workshops that focusing on translating visions into reality.   I worked as a lab and field ecologist while at the University of Minnesota. This work was related to my own thesis as well as supporting other researchers in the Oberhauser Monarch Lab. While sabbatical I visited K-12 schools and taught interactive session associated with insect ecology. My work included a summer adjunct faculty position where I taught multi-week teacher workshops focused on Inquiry and Insect Ecology.   I worked as a field ecologist / grunt in the George Hunt lab. This included extended field work on the Pribilof Islands, AK.
