Richard K. Jefferson
Bruce Knight is the kind of professional most of us would like to be; he has achieved tremendous things in his career, he’s a great leader, and he seems to know everyone in his issue areas. No one better combines the characteristics of being highly knowledgeable and possessing the highest degree of political savvy while remaining a truly nice, personable guy who nonetheless motivates those around him to reach their top performance level. For leadership, you can’t beat those attributes.

I have been fortunate enough to work with Bruce Knight in several capacities during my time in Washington, DC. I have been lobbied by Bruce, worked with him side by side on Capitol Hill, and then served as a colleague during our time together at USDA. Bruce is a rare example in Washington, DC of someone who makes policy from actual expereince. He is an active farmer, having been raised on a farm. He has worked for commodity orgnaizations (corn and wheat) and served on Capitol Hill in both the House and Seante. It was duirng our time together with Senator Dole where I was exposed to Bruce's talents on a daily basis. He is an exceptional writer and had a new idea every day about how to fix a problem or how to modify or create a program that made more sense for America's farmers. The conservation title of the 1996 farm bill was the result of Bruce's initiation and the final title refelcted several of his ideas. Finally, duirng our time at USDA Bruce was a go to team player both within his issue area and outside as well. He identified challengeson many occassions before anyone else was aware they even existed. And furthermore, you always knew that if Bruce was handling an issue, things were going to get done and done right. I highly recommend Bruce Knight.
