Brooks served as the leader and co-creator with me of the Early College Program at Somerville High School. He was instrumental in all aspects of leadership and project management including proposal writing, selecting outstanding and social justice-focused professors, co-facilitation of the steering team, and strategic planning. He brought his expertise in student-centered design and integrated the use of Canvas, Cambridge College’s learning management system. The program started with 12 former EL students and grew to 20 students within a year, incorporating students with learning differences. The program was designated as a state-funded Early College program that spring with the goal of expanding the program to 80 students within two years and incorporating other underserved populations including Black and Latinx students. By the start of the second year, 40 students were enrolled, and we redesigned the structure of the program to integrate high school teachers to collaborate with college professors so that the college rigor of the courses was maintained and students’ academic skills were scaffolded. DESE recognized this innovative program design and had us present it to other aspiring Early College programs. Brooks brought significant expertise working across institutions and involving multiple stake holders including faculty, Cambridge College administrators, DESE leaders, district and high school staff in Somerville. As a colleague, working with Brooks was an exceptional experience. He is a strong collaborator, problem-solver, open to new ideas, and deeply committed to a project’s success. I cannot recommend him more highly.

Brooks Is a very talented professional with a very calm, thoughtful way of communicating. At Cambridge College he has filled a void with his group and established a genuine useful department for we educators.
