Upon qualifying I joined Dean Wilson’s company and commercial team. Working independently and as part of a team, my primary focus was on M&A work, largely in the estate agency sector, where I was responsible for many completions per month. I also advised clients on a wide range of other company and commercial matters from shareholders agreements to franchise agreements to NDAs and terms of business. I began my placement with C&L Group of Companies in August 2016 where I held an account manager role. I was quickly promoted to Manager of the Collections team after 3 months working with C&L. I have a number of key responsibilities, primarily being functions that are delegated away from the Director to ensure there is a clear separation of powers within the Group. My day-to-day role was to ensure the collection accounts reconcile and that the overall department is following the policies and procedures that the firm implements. In addition to this, I ensure the department is aware of any internal or regulatory developments and ensure that the team is trained in all aspects of the company’s internal and external policies. I reported directly to the operations Director on a daily basis and have additional responsibilities such as interviewing potential employees, meeting with clients and managing the cases that are referred to High Court Enforcement. Alongside this, I retained an active account management role, ensuring that all management information and queries are dealt with expeditiously. This ensured the smooth and efficient running of the overall department. Upon returning to University for my final year, I maintained my managerial position within the group of companies on a part-time basis.
