Bio
Valerie Thompson, CHRL
While with KPMG, I had the opportunity to work with Brooke on a few engagements. One of the traits I most admired about Brooke was her ability to build an immediate rapport with clients. She has this innate talent of putting people at ease and is able to quickly gain their trust while driving business objectives, two wonderful characteristics to have when working in HR! Brooke is eager to learn and loves a good challenge; her enthusiasm and energy are contagious! It’s obvious to me that Brooke will know great success as she progresses in her career as a HR professional.

As a Manager within KPMG’s People and Change Management Consulting practice, I focused on working with large teams to deliver and support organizations through business and technology transformations. Specifically, I have gained over 10 years of experience and expertise leading change management, organizational design, learning and development, talent management, strategy development, workforce strategy and planning, and employee experience / EVP engagements with multiple clients and stakeholders. Each of these engagements required me to be accountable for leading and managing multiple large scale private and public projects with minimal oversight – ensuring milestones were met, deliverables were provided with the highest standards, budgets managed, teams engaged, and ensuring my clients needs were met – all leading to great and on going client relationships. In addition to project work, I co-led the development of a workforce transformation service for clients, which required me to collaborate globally with senior individuals to formalize and socialize the workforce transformation methodology. Lastly, I supported continuous business development by gaining additional project work and building / maintaining personal client base. Show less

Working initially as a contracted Project Manager, I led and executed the organizational review, design, and transformation of the Guest Relations Department. Specifically, I worked to help McDonald’s Canada shift from a 3-person operation that was able to intake 10,000 white mail/ phone calls capable of minimal data capture and management to a call centre operation (of over 30 people) capable of addressing over 200,000 interactions through multiple engagement channels. Through this work and with the leadership team, we defined the overarching strategy and vision for the department and how it would strategically meet the needs of the evolving business. I worked with the current team to assess the current state and design future state processes, current roles, job description, metrics, and structure that aligned with the vision and strategy. Additionally, I worked with the team to design and execute all system integrations, training content, change management and implementation plan for First Contact Recovery procedures, CRM, Social Media Monitoring and Communication, Online Form and Reporting Dashboard. Through this transformation, accessibility and ability to communicate with guests was dramatically enhanced by 150%, processes were standardize and streamlined, metrics and reporting were easily accessible, a guest centric approach was created that aligned to the overall organization needs, in addition to a centralized database capable of storing guest information from all communication channels. Other projects as a full-time Project Manager: • Supported the development of the McCafe Strategic Roadmap and 5-year plan • Project Managed the design and execution of McDonald’s first McCafe Standalone restaurants • Program managed McDonald's 2017 restaurant (1400) refresh that included the implementation of Kiosks, Dual Point Service, Guest Experience Leaders, and Create Your Taste Show less
