Software Development Intern

Jun 2023 - Present
Through the Xtern and Lucy Family Institute's AnalytiXIN program, I have been given the unique opportunity to work on the development team at Web3Sense. Over the summer, I added new features to our customer dashboard both on the client and server side using SQL, React, and Javascript. Additionally, I used Pandas and PySpark to increase the efficiency and write test cases for existing backend data operations in Python. Overall, I have really enjoyed the technical aspects of this job, as well as the fantastic community at Web3Sense. This summer has been an incredible learning opportunity and I am excited to continue this position part time into the school year! Show less

Xtern / Lucy Family Institute AnalytiXIN Intern
-
Jun 2023 - Jul 2023
This summer I was part of both Techpoint's Xtern program and the Lucy Family Institute's AnalytiXIN program. Each week, I met with my fellow interns and talked to industry professionals, engaged with panels of a wide variety of tech experts, and attended interactive workshops on cybersecurity, Python, and GIS, as well as others. Additionally, I worked with the AnalytiXIN program leaders to develop personal skills crucial to the tech industry. The opportunity to connect with professionals and peers in my field, hear practical advice for my career, and develop my professional skills really made this internship experience unlike any other. Undergraduate Teaching Assistant

Jan 2023 - May 2023
I worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant for ECE 36900, Discrete Mathematics for Computer Engineering for spring 2023. I was responsible for helping students understand homework and course concepts in office hours, grade weekly homework, proctor exams, and monitor the online Piazza page to assist students with questions. It was very rewarding to be able to work with other students and explain the course material of a class I thoroughly enjoyed. As a back of house shift leader, I was responsible for everything that happens in the kitchen during dinner rush and after closing for the night. I directed and assigned positions to all team members, ensured that high quality food was prepared quickly, and upheld Chick-fil-A safety standards. Additionally, I oversaw catering orders and was the primary communicator between back and front of house, as well as with the store operator and kitchen director. In addition to the roles above, I made an effort to train all team members in every position regardless of their gender or work experience. Although this was not an official part of my job description, it was a major priority of mine, and I emphasized this on the shifts I led in order to create a more equal and supportive work environment. As a Chick-fil-A intern, I worked with the executive operations director of the Grand Rapids South location. I spent time learning and implementing Chick-fil-A's corporate purpose to serve others well, assisted in creating and implementing a training program for certified trainers and new team members. Additionally, I learned more about the tools and strategies used by upper leadership to monitor and increase store sales and productivity. Finally, I led the back of house team in starting a donations program to provide excess food to a local charity instead of wasting it. This program developed my leadership and communication skills in addition to emphasizing the importance of a collaborative and positive work community. Show less
