I was a leader to both a participant and three other physical therapy students. This program allowed me gain valuable telehealth skills and treatment strategies due to COVID-19. During the program itself I coached the participant through increasing exercises as well as provided education on arthritis and the importance of exercise. I facilitated development for the other students to learn how to communicate, work with others, and teach over telehealth. I worked under the direction of a clinical instructor with other students from both the physical therapy and occupational therapy programs. As a group we would plan a session for the patient and worked together to provide information and exercises about falls and safety in the home. As a B-Fit coach for Shriners Hospital in Springfield, MA I worked with many of children with a variety of different impairments, ages, and independence levels. I was responsible for mobilization into and out of power wheelchairs, guarding, activity assistance, exercise guidance, redirection, and exercise prescriptions for the athletes participating.
