Ophthalmic Technician and Clinical Research Coordinator
-
Oct 2016 - Present
I work alongside a team of ophthalmology specialists to provide direct patient care to people suffering from diseases of the vitreous and retina. A typical day could involve capturing optical coherence photography, performing fluorescein angiography, preparing drugs for administration, scribing alongside a physician or assisting with the administration of treatments, and preparing patients for ocular surgery. Additionally, I now assist the clinical research department with research subject screening and enrollment. Show less

Visitor Services Assistant
-
May 2016 - Sep 2016
With the National Park Service I not only wore the recognizable park ranger hat, but also a multitude of other "hats" in the workplace. While at Glacier Bay National Park I lived and worked in a very remote area of Alaska only accessible by a 25 minute bush airplane ride from Juneau. When at the ranger station, I provided boating and camping permits, as well as orientations to all wishing to enter the Alaskan backcountry, ensuring visitor safety. In partnership with park law enforcement, I also did radio dispatch for all marine traffic on long and short range radios found aboard vessels and in the form of park hand held radios and performed front and backcountry patrols on foot, aboard park vessels, and by sea kayak. At the completion of my season I prepared a legacy project centered around public health in the backcountry and shadowed wildlife biologists in the field. Show less

At the animal shelter I performed secretarial duties such as handling money, answering phones, and processing paperwork for animal surrenders/adoptions, volunteers, and community service members. Additionally, I maintained kennels for puppies, adult dogs, and cats and exercised animals daily. Partnering with the charity group PAWS, I also had a unique opportunity to take pictures of animals at the shelter to be featured in a local bulletin.
