  The NSW Parents Council is a not for profit group funded by the private school sector and through a grant from the NSW Government. The council is charged with representing parents of children at non government schools to the government and other education bodies. As treasurer I was responsible for reviewing finance and reporting functions and instigating robust compliance and audit procedures. The period of my involvement was particularly turbulent in the education sector and the committee was heavily involved in submissions and reviews for both the National Curriculum and the Gonski review. We were regularly invited to meet with state and federal education ministers, and on one occasion presented to an OECD delegation reporting on global education standards.
