I have been working at Coles since September 2012 at the age of 15. I been lucky enough to have been welcomed with open arms and supported for the whole of my career at Hornsby Coles. I have been trained in Service, Deli and Online. At the age of 18 I was honoured to be asked to be a supervisor within the service team. Coles has trained me in working under pressure, customer service skills, communication skills, professional presentation and to have a strong work ethic. I have completed my 600 hours of placement at Ability Option Hornsby. I was running workshops and 1:1 with supervision from Work Ready Consultants as well as running some 1:1 independently. I created all preparations for all my 1:1 sessions and collaborated with other work placement students to create ideas for workshops and the content that we present to the participants. I have also shown initiative by doing these task independently and running sessions independently due to being in lock down since mid way through the second week of the placement. Show less

At Ku-ring-gai Neighbourhood Centre I got to experience how they were internally audited, how they interacted with the community, the respect and care that they had for all who accessed their service. During this time I was able to build my confidence when it came to building rapport with the community and staff. I worked with the amazing staff at Youth Connections to support young people aged 6-24 by providing a range of services. I was able to witness and take part in a lot of their programs and see the care that they provide everyone of the students. I learn a lot about how traumas and hardships can impact a young persons life. I was able to observe and be apart of how schooling was adapted to fit the individuals due to the acknowledgment of the staff that students don't always learn the same. I worked with clients with wide range of disabilities on a three day over night camp for a music festival and a music festival by the beach. I was with them 24 hours over the three days of camp giving me a insight the many aspect of working with people who have a disability full time. I absolutely enjoyed the experience building rapport with them all and watching how music is a universal way people can communicate.
