CUB Magazine is the QMUL University magazine; for which there are weekly online submissions deadlines and quarterly print deadlines. I was the sole editor of CUB’s creative writing segment. For which I proofread, offer adjustments and feedback to all creative works that we published both in print and on our website for the duration of the academic year and I also introduced and vetted the submissions to our quarterly prints by co-ordiating writing themes for each print edition. Whilst working with For Books’ Sake I learnt how to respond and interact with an audience based collective. For Books’ Sake functions as a registered charity, championing writing by women and particularly women from marginalised backgrounds such as LGBTQ+ or black women. As a result managing which posts to share to the Facebook page became a key aspect of my role. Highlighting key events, such as the ‘That’s What She Said’, spoken word night of poetry run by For Books’ Sake, and ensuring new books, such as the launch of (Re)Sisters, a YA anthology collection published by For Books’ Sake reached the most appropriate audience from within the pool of Facebook audience members.I engaged with audience members who had questions or queries, shared and posted old and new content drawn from the For Books’ Sake website and I was responsible for encouraging new and current audience members to contribute towards The Weekend Read, a weekly short story segment which accepts open submissions. My role consisted of communicating with other social media team members, and creating monthly targets to aim towards. I also compounded the monthly analytics for the page, summarising what was received well and how I would move forward with improving engagement as a result.
