Kafue Steel Plant Duties and Responsibilities: • In-charge of DRI (Directly Reduced Iron) Electrical Department; Leading a team of Electrical and Instrumentation technicians, allocating labor, planning and executing electrical projects. • Assisting Electrical department manager in energy management, cost control, spares’ purchasing and reviewing of quotations from suppliers of equipment and machinery. • Carrying out Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and fault investigation using RCA (Root Cause Analysis) methods to ensure equipment availability and optimized maintenance. • Writing and presenting DRI Electrical Department reports to the Electrical Manager and Head of Department. • Maintenance of Profibus network and Profibus connectors for communication between S7300 PLC, Interface Modules, Remote I/Os, VFDs and Field Devices. • Maintenance (RCM) and troubleshooting on various electrical machinery including Diesel Generators, Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP), Switchgears, Hydraulic & Pneumatic systems, Conveyor belts, Overhead Cranes & Grabber magnets etc. • Siemens Micromaster Series VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and ABB VFD commissioning, maintenance, HMI operating, setting motor parameters as well as clearing & investigation of faults. • Ensuring Power system and equipment protection: Using Siemens Multifunction Digital relays, Master trip Relays & LBB (Local Breaker Backup) initiation and inter-lock circuits, HT 33KV VCB Breakers, LT 400V ACB Breakers, motor thermal overloads etc. • Siemens S7-200, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming and designing of various motor automation controls using ladder logic and FBD PLC languages. • Installation, wiring and maintenance of relays, Inductive and capacitive proximity sensors. • Installation of thermocouples, pressure transmitters, flowmeters and other analog input/output Instrumentation devices. • Installation of Conveyor Belts control, safety and protection devices.
