I got to know Bridget in 2015 through my role as an adviser to students applying for Fulbright grants to teach English abroad. Bridget will graduate from Indiana University – Bloomington with a degree in Anthropology and minors in Folklore and Ethnomusicology and Russian and Eastern European Studies. The degrees that she will earn are part of an impressive resume of experiences that includes researching and analyzing languages, using a GIS system to create a map of places with Native American names, organizing and leading student organizations, giving presentations on a variety of topics and in a variety of venues and earning a number of awards and honors. Her multiple experiences abroad include extended stays in Romania, Austria and Mexico and attest to her ability to adapt to in different cultural environments. Bridget created effective plans for learning languages during her time abroad and at Indiana University and she will easily advance in settings where language skills are required. Bridget's academic and personal motivation and thoughtful preparation of the Fulbright application impressed the committee, as did her writing and her discussion about her application. She enthusiastically approached the application process which represented a culmination of her interests in languages, anthropology, English teaching, and Central Europe and exceeded expectations in her ability to address follow-up questions based on her essays and to consider issues from multiple points of view. It was a pleasure for us to get to know her and learn about her plans. Please contact me via LinkedIn if I can provide further information as a reference for Bridget.
