      •In 2019, according to the World Health Organization there were 229 million cases of Malaria with 94% of these cases occurring in Africa. Currently, Chloroquine is utilized to treat Malaria, however, we are beginning to see resistance to the drug which could drastically increase the number of deaths to Malaria •Identified which mutations at genetic markers of the most common malaria parasite in Africa, Plasmodium falciparum, could be the cause of antimalarial drug resistance. •In 2019, according to the World Health Organization there were 229 million cases of Malaria with 94% of these cases occurring in Africa.
