Where a hub-and-spoke model exists with a back office “hub” (Glasgow) and “spokes” elsewhere (Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Eigg, Forfar, Inverness, Lerwick, Thurso and Wick). See plugplaylaw.com. All solicitors at Inksters are freelance consultants giving them more of the fees they generate; complete freedom of how, where and when they work; and allowing them to focus on doing the legal work they love to do. I obtained the distinction of being named Solicitor of the Year at the Law Awards of Scotland in 2006 and Managing Partner of the Year at the Law Awards of Scotland 2014. I was called "a one man Scottish legal institution" in the Recommended Law Firm Guide 2010 and a "Maverick Lawyer" by insider.co.uk in 2019. I have a special interest in Crofting Law being the author of 'A Practical Guide to Crofting Law' published by Law Brief Publishing. I am the Hon Secretary of the Crofting Law Group and a member of the Cross Party Group on Crofting at the Scottish Parliament. I am a regular contributor at Crofting Law Conferences and blog on crofting law at croftinglawblog.com. I also have a special interest in the law of servitudes (I acted for the pursuers in the ground breaking House of Lords case of Moncrieff v Jamieson) and lectured on that subject at the University of Strathclyde. I take an active interest in entrepreneurship, marketing and technology in relation to running a law firm. Inksters were the first law firm in Scotland to Tweet and to have a dedicated YouTube channel and the first in the UK to pin at Pinterest. I am often asked to provide presentations or comment on such matters. I tutored/lectured on Commercial Awareness in the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow. I blog on the past, present and future practice of law at thetimeblawg.com Show less
