♦ Commanded and trained a 180-Marine infantry unit in preparation for major combat operations, coordinated assets and supplies in excess of $5M and deployed to Iraq for 19 total months, spending 15 months training and advising Iraqi Security Forces; spent the balance, preceding and throughout Operation Phantom Fury in Fallujah during 2004-2005, as assistant battalion-level operations director. ♦ Lived, ate, and slept at Iraqi Army outposts in and around Fallujah for over one year from 2006-2007, logged more than 140 combat missions advising Iraqi Army counterparts on counter-insurgency operations and supporting them logistically with $100K in discretionary funding; hand-selected in combat to command a 10-person military advisory team attached to a 600-soldier Iraqi Army unit after my predecessor was severely injured by an improvised explosive device attack; subsequently awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, Purple Heart, and Bronze Star with combat distinguishing device for exceptional devotion to duty.
