I worked with Brian for a great project he did for Colorado CASA. He created a social media project complete with a proposal and weekly updates. I can't say enough about how seamless the whole process was - Brian put together detailed information for me and the Colorado CASA network. His GoogleAds, Facebook, and SEO work were second to none. The network has already decided they want to work with him to do the project for a second year. The results were incredible - it can sometimes cost hundreds to recruit just one volunteer for our programs, but some of our programs saw costs as low as $28 per volunteer because of Brian's great work. I should also mention that he was exceptionally pleasant and professional!

Honestly, Brian has the attributes that you look for; he listens well and is honest if the work it is outside his capacities. If he takes on the job, then he is creative, proactive (so important), timely, responsive to client input, crazy talented, and has a large range of contacts. This is an easy recommendation. Feel free to contact me as regards my work with Brian me, if desired.

Since 2013, I've directed the Anselm Society in my spare time, growing a team of dozens of skilled volunteers and a brand respected across the Christian imagination space internationally. We operate a world-class conference, local community events, and podcasts and publications, and we published our first book, "Why We Create," with Square Halo Books in 2023. I supervised our Product, Communications/Grassroots Fundraising, and Creative Services directors and their teams totaling ~20 people (personally managing the former two teams during a hiring freeze). The unified division allowed us to develop products properly that responded to real market needs, and then grow and monetize them successfully based on a running dialogue between substance and strategy. We continued to increase grassroots funding at a clip of 20%+ per year, adding thousands of donors with high retention rates, while growing podcast audiences at a blitzkrieg pace compared to industry norms--including product growth for our flagship Breakpoint product, previously stagnant for half a decade, of over 40% in one year alone (wherein it was a top 10 Christian podcast on Apple Podcasts).

After my success building the Communications department, my role was expanded to unify communications and grassroots fundraising. We consistently grew our revenue by 20% or more per year; while modernizing and upgrading our strategies, technology, and brand management so that we could build for the future with quantitative metrics that represented real mission progress.

After several months as director of strategic initiatives, I was moved up to run all marketing (i.e. communications) and strategic growth operations for what had become a fast-growing nonprofit. We dramatically expanded the organization's communications and marketing capacity and began to build its brand for the future.

I joined the Colson Center in May 2018 to help it develop its three-year growth strategy; after an extensive audit and series of recommendations, I was appointed to head up the new Marketing department to implement my recommendations.

From 2011-2018 I worked full-time as a communications and operations strategist for over 100 mission-driven organizations, helping them build capacity and achieve growth objectives in reach and funding. Since 2018, I've been more selective in the projects I take on, but I'm always willing to discuss your needs. These days I primarily focus on communication campaigns, long-term brand-building, and event management. Past clients include ISI, The Theopolis Institute, The Davenant Institute, The Rabbit Room, Philanthropy Roundtable, and CASA and the Humane Society of Colorado Springs.

Humane Pursuits was an online community seeking how to live rounded lives in modern boxes. Over nine years, we built a team of six editors and over 80 writers around the U.S. and Europe and published thousands of articles. Our work was engaged, praised, and re-published by other major publications and writers including The New Atlantis, First Things, Andrew Sullivan, David Brooks, Aleteia, and Comment Magazine. I closed down the publication in 2018 as I moved on to other projects. Humane Pursuits was an online community seeking how to live rounded lives in modern boxes. Transformed a dormant lecture series into a vibrant vehicle for city improvements, routinely drawing over 300 local civic leaders to engage with speakers from the Heritage Foundation, Hudson Institute, and other organizations. We also built an unprecedented addition to El Pomar’s philanthropy program, featuring an innovative social capital-based evaluation system to analyze best practices in economic development grantmaking, evaluate transferability, and spur internal strategy changes.

After moving to Colorado Springs chasing a girl, I worked for El Paso County as an election reform consultant. I advised county and state election officials on problems in election administration, published a series of research papers to educate voters on election reform issues, and revamped and streamlined election judge training procedures.
