As a pharmacy technician at Franciscan Health-Crown Point, I am responsible for aiding pharmacist in their efforts to ensure dispensed, compounded, and packaged medication are correct. My specific job duties include conducting maintenance and packaging of medications, corroborate the integrity of medications, distribution medications to Pyxis and appropriate nursing units, and become aware of implications of information for both current and future problem-solving and decision making. This job experience has been extremely rewarding to me as it has allowed me to immerse myself in the field of pharmacy on a daily basis. With this job experience I have had the opportunity to better understand interactions between pharmacists and other healthcare professionals and witness first-hand the great responsibility that comes with being a pharmacist.
