Through VIPKid, I taught lessons to students of varying levels on a one-on-one basis via video. Each lesson is specified towards the individual student's level so I had to properly prepare props, extension materials, and rewards to reinforce the lesson's objectives, as well as teach the material using TPR (total physical response) in order to ensure their understanding. Following each lesson, I submitted student comprehension feedback and at the end of each unit, I reviewed final projects. As an ESL tutor, I worked with student's in one-to-one classes and facilitated them in extending their English knowledge. As I worked with students of different age groups and academic levels, I had to evaluate their capabilities and plan lessons and supplementary materials based on the individual. As an ESL assistant, I was responsible for leading classrooms of native Spanish students in English, Science, and occasionally Arts lessons. Along with engaging students in day-to-day lessons, I also prepared supplemental materials (worksheets, games), evaluated students through oral, written, and listening activities, and provided additional learning support on a one-on-one or small group basis for weaker students. As a helpline intern at NAMI, my job was to give support via phone call and instant message to those in need. This included providing additional mental health resources near the individual, documenting data about each person in order to better facilitate them in future calls, as well as acting as a support system to each individual by listening and engaging in conversation (as needed).
