McPike of Virginia’s 29th District - Attended and reported on General Laws and Technology, Local Government, and Transportation Committees - Advised the Senator’s voting decisions by entering constituent, non-profit, and lobbyist concerns (e.g. driver’s licenses for all and state mandated vehicle inspections) into the office’s internal system - Tracked the Senator’s legislation in committee meetings and floor sessions and shared this information through the weekly constituent newsletter which is sent to 13,000 people

- Conducted in-depth research on topical public policy issues to draft resolutions and recommend legislation on the integration of ethnic studies into K-12 education, the adoption of the Revised Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children, the removal of non-medical vaccination exemptions, chronic absenteeism in schools, temporary protected status for Venezuelan refugees, and comprehensive economic reforms for military families - Conducted legislative research in 48 states and Puerto Rico to create a shareable database of legislation that state legislators can introduce and enact - Served on the selection committee for NHCSL’s John S.
