Research, Development, testing, prototyping, and troubleshooting of hardware and software components of machine vision, PLC, and rtos based industrial control and motion control systems for the printing industry. Spearheaded and developed a reconfigurable vision system application that interfaces with existing control systems and gives our customer new capabilities in quality control, process management and streamlining, automation, and sales. My responsibilites include requirements gathering, prototyping, hardware design (electrical and mechanical), software design, research into new technologies, development, troubleshooting, and optimization of vision systems, real time control systems, PLCs, and motion control systems. I have extensive experience with MIL (matrox imaging library), smart cameras, ocr, barcodes, pattern matching, metrology, particle/blob analysis, edge detection, color analysis, image filtering and processing, unsupervised lighting correction, and much more. I also have some experience with CVL (Cognex Vision Library), CVB (CommonVisionBlox), (Cognex) VisionPro, and OpenCL. I have PLC development experience on Siemens, Rockwell, and Wago; motion control experience with VFDs and multi-axis servo systems on mostly Siemens drives, PLCs, and PACs. Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, EtherCAT, custom TCP & UDP protocols, memory mapped interfaces, encoders, FPGA integration, GPU offloading and distributed computing. Show less

Sr tech specialist - software testing and testing development

Jan 2005 - Jan 2008
responsible for testing rtos based control systems, imaging systems, vision systems, presses and finishing equipment, inkjet printers and their controllers, electrical and mechanical automation systems, networks, etc...I also developed a machine I/O simulator which revolutionized our ability to test in the lab and provided the capability to simulate almost any type of finishing equipment, press, or inkjet printer. prior to this, most testing was done in the field on live running systems which was a high-risk environment to test in. The product tracking scheme i developed for the simulator was later adapted for tracking product on systems with variable product spacing such as folders and digital web-based presses with variable impression spacing.
