John Wilson, PhD

Brian was my customer and manager for several projects developing test data collection and 3D visualization software on the Groundbased Midcourse Defense program at Boeing. He provided excellent oversight and direction, cleared obstacles to the development process, and created an environment of sanity in an otherwise insane workspace. He is a very good leader as well as being a good manager. His example highlights how the two roles are different, and he succeeds in both.

Dee Campobasso

I have known Brian for many years and I have had the opportunity to work with him both as a manufacturer and as a business development consultant supporting his division. I highly recommend Brian, he is very good with people as well as proficient in software development, hardware/software integration, Test & Evaluation, proposal development, senior level management and always gets the job done!

Manager responsible for a team of engineers that develop and maintain the simulations for the Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) Labs (GDIL, IIF, and AT&C) on the GBI Integrated Product Team for Huntsville, AL. These simulations represent the booster flyout, as well as, help conduct system end-to-end testing to ensure product pedigree. There are currently four (4) major HWIL simulations, which represent booster flyout and provide end-to-end testing capability. There are also two (2) smaller simulation variants of the booster flyout simulations that use actual booster flight computers. There are three (3) simulation support products, one that allows the major simulations to be time-synced with other program related hardware, one that allows visual representation of the flyout, and one that allows post-test analysis. There are also two (2) test related products that allow unit testing and 1553 data capture testing. Manager also responsible for a team of 5 engineers that maintain system administration and computing security in five (5) HWIL labs and all system security plans for those labs. Manager also responsible for the team of 3 engineers who develop and carry out software requirements/testing for the above products. Specific responsibilities include daily interaction with government customers or representatives, daily interaction with senior level management, daily trouble-shooting/action item burn-down and risk analysis/mitigation. Development and analysis of line detection and road detection algorithms for the Brilliant Anti-Tank Program. Co-Programmer and data analyst in the data reduction process for the Electronic Warfare Advanced Technology Program. The data reduction process consisted of taking the raw data, which is converted into background-subtracted objects, with the final result being radiometric values of the objects. Developed a CD-ROM based Data Viewer Utility, which contains a VCR-like interface to control playback of the archived mission data. Developed a Graphical User Interface for the Infrared Sensor Stimulator Project that allows a user to run the Infrared Electro-optical Naval Engagement Model simulation, which calculates the effects of Naval vessel compartment temperatures, paint, materials, weather, emissivity, reflections and sensor responsivity. Lead programmer on the optimization of the Infrared Imaging System Data Reduction software to allow multiple sensor programs reuse the same data reduction algorithms with minimum impact to the users and programmers involved. This will allowed multiple types of data formats to be reduced, which enhanced the capabilities of the data reduction facility. Developed a Data Viewer Utility for the Sensor Hand-Over Risk Reduction Program (SHaRRP) that contains a VCR-like interface to control both the image processing and SPATS portions of the archived mission data. This viewer allowed faster delivery of the data products collected and the designation data generated by SHaRRP on CD-ROM format. Implemented and integrated code for automatic gain control (AGC) of an infrared (IR) sensor as part of a real-time system providing risk reduction support of the THAAD program. Analyzed, coded and tested algorithms for the target discrimination, designation, and aim-point portions of the system. Performed software upgrades for the downloading of multiple sets of non-uniformity correction (NUC) tables to memory, allowing for faster operational mode change rates, which improves system performance and eases operator interface. Lead programmer on integration of these algorithms into an autonomous airborne IR system. Also, implemented and maintained software in C to run in the pSOS+m multitasking real-time operating system (RTOS) environment. Target platforms consisted of single board computers integrated into a VME backplane utilizing both custom and commercial off the shelf hardware. Show less
