      • The last 4 years I have been an active network engineer for SIRO. I report to Senior Management and my principle duties are to manage the active network deployment plan for all active equipment installs for every POP in the country. I audit the physical installation of all active equipment as well as the fibre cabling in the ODF management. I test the network devices to ensure they perform as they are designed and configured. I create a detailed report for operations team to accept the site as live. I liaise with operators for new ICL connections in each town and configure/test them on site before going live to prove end to end connection.• Active network deployment weekly schedule: multiple contractors detailed schedules three months in advance with potential blockers via build meeting updates;• Attend build meetings, provide updates, highlight any potential delays or blockers;• Audit the installation of the physical equipment installed, labelling, fibre bends and lengths;• Testing the new active equipment by generating traffic using JDSU testers, checking power resilience, controller boards switching; LAG switches to measure the frame loss; and confirming alarms with the NOC.• RFC2544 to test the throughput, latency, packet jitter and frameloss in one report;• Planning end to end connection with operator ICL connections at the SIRO POI including splicing cabling and optics;• Configure and test with Operators in each town using their CPE/Modem;• Manage our live database of all network inventory as part of handover (Cramer);• Complete HLD for each town liaising with the passive network team to ensure that we order the correct amount of cards/optics etc. to complete build for the accurate number of premises passed;• BAU projects: DCN designs, metro ring closures, operational issues and tasks; Show less
