As a recent journalism graduate from CSUN I would like to take this opportunity to highly recommend Brian De Los Santos. Throughout these semesters Brian De Los Santos has been a distinguished student. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. I feel confident that he will continue to succeed in his professional career. He is a dedicated student and thus far his professional work have been exemplary. In class, he has proven to be a take-charge person who is able to successfully develop team projects and individual commitments. Mr. De Los Santo’s skills have made him worthy of being named Feature Editor of several projects for The Daily Sundial, our college newspaper at CSUN (http://sundial.csun.edu/). In our website you can check some examples of his distinguished production.

It is a pleasure for me to recommend Brian De Los Santos, who has shown dedication and initiative while he was a reporter at the Daily Sundial. I was a coworker of De Los Santos, and have noticed his drive for journalism. I could easily see his devotion towards the work he produces, and his passion to take on any assignment. It was not unusual for me to pick up the daily newspaper, and see his work gracing the front page. In addition, De Los Santos was very kind and respectful to the editors and reporters in the newsroom. He was always willing to assist a hand with those who needed help. I believe he will be very successful in the writing/multimedia field, and will continue to develop exceptional work.

Currently serving as the inaugural co-chair for Vamos Forward, an ERG focused on the Latino, Hispanic, Latinx communities at Gannett which launched in November 2019. Within a year, the leadership team and I recruited over 100 members across the company. As co-chair I oversee programming, the group's mission and collaboration with other ERGs in the company. Additionally, I work with other network leaders to represent Latinx employees — who work in editorial, business, ads and sales departments in the company — and push for diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. I direct digital and audience engagement strategy at The Desert Sun, which is part of the USA TODAY Network. Some of the planning I oversee includes digital roll-outs of long-term and enterprise projects, including daily news. I also manage a producer team that contributes to print production and data visualization. As the social lead for the West Coast, I help small sites in the network with their social strategy. I've helped with the launch of In California, a USA TODAY Network newsletter with a focus on the Golden State. I also oversee news products for our site. Show less
